Urijah Faber VS. Leonard Garcia?

WEC Fighter Leonard Garcia has just posted a blog on his myspace page that states his federal charges have been dropped and his lawyers are working on the state charges now. Leonard hopes to be returning to the WEC cage in August or September, with hopes of fighting for the WEC Featherweight title soon after.

"i just wanted to post this to let everyone know that i had the Federal charges dropped i am still dealing with the state but the charges aren't as serious as they seemed so i hope to be back in the cage soon real soon I'm just waiting on my excellent manager (boogie) bean to get that straightened out for me i am gonna be the wec featherweight champ soon this is something i feel strongly about so I'm telling everyone that is my goal and my dream and that is what I'm going to do so i will give it my all to do what i say I'm gonna do"

Leonard fights out Jackson's gym in Albuquerque, NM. Soon we will have two WEC champions fighting out of New Mexico!

Monsivaiz Smoker Rant...

This weekend boxing/kickboxing matches down in Las Cruses NM were filled with good fights in the ring, disappointing adult(I use this word because of age not how they acted) actions outside the ring and one former world champion. All the amateur fighters in my book were winners just for stepping into the ring they showed more heart and courage then most people show in a life time. As for the adults.... not so much! If you are a adult please act as a adult and that includes the former champion and his family and the rest of the adult fans in attendance. Please remember these are KIDS not pro fighters and shouting at the kids "to kill" his/her opponent or "kick his/her ass" is not teaching the kids any sportsmanship what so ever....What's worse is when two 8-10 year old are in the ring giving there very best and the two families of the kids are out in the crowd about to fight over the kids BOXING in the ring! Are you serious!?! If you as parents/adults cant handle yourself during AMATEUR BOXING/KICKBOXING how do you expect your kids to act when things in life don't do there way?!?!? Johnny and Theresa.... you two of all the people at the event should have known better then to act like that at a AMATEUR EVENT! Are you two not the same people who are considered "professionals" in combat sports circles? You two showed low class in not controlling your emotions and actions as two young fighters did there very best in the squared circle. What a shame. As for the title fight it was action packed and a very close fight between two young women who gave it there all and still had enough class to hug, cry and say good job to each other after there fight. I guess a lot of adults could have learned good sportsmanship and honor from those two young ladies and all the fighter who stepped between those ropes on Saturday night in Las Cruses NM.

The Heat has a new team in Jackson's Gym...

John Morgan from MMAjunkie.com is reporting that "THE HEAT" is now training at Jackson's gym in Albuquerque NM.

"Beyond a newfound motivation, Parisyan has also made the decision to train with UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre at Greg Jackson’s camp in Albuquerque, N.M. Parisyan will have a vested interest in his new training partner’s UFC 87 title clash with Jon Fitch—a fighter whom Parisyan has been accused of avoiding in the octagon."

Wow! St.Pierre, Huerta and now Parisyan looks like Greg's already talented team is getting even stronger!!!

New Mexico born fighter Diego Sanchez looked very impressive in his TKO win. The other fighters in the Welterweight division better watch out for Diego's much improved stand up! One final thought imagine SANCHEZ VS. PENN for the Lightweight belt!? I would put my money on Diego, he is a cardio freak who now has added good striking to a great ground game!

The Nightmare back in the cage this weekend!

Diego “The Nightmare” Sanchez takes on hard-hitting Luigi Fioravanti this Saturday on the Ultimate Fighter 7 Finale on Spike tv. Sanchez (20-2), fighting out of San Diego, Calif.(Albuquerque, NM), burst onto the UFC scene after winning The Ultimate Fighter 1 against Kenny Florian. After six consecutive wins over such notable opponents as Karo Parisyan, John Alessio, and Nick Diaz, it seemed Sanchez was clearly destined to wear the UFC welterweight crown. However, Sanchez’s title hopes were put on hold by two consecutive losses including a three-round decision to Josh Koschek, at UFC 69 last April and a split decision loss to Jon Fitch last September at UFC 76. Now, the Gaidojuijitsu black belt is back on the winning track after submitting Brazilian native David Bielkheden in March at UFC 82.

WEC shows the true meaning of what MMA as a sport is and heals a little of the black eye CBS showed less than 24 hours ago on network TV. Lets hope CBS along with other network TV personnel got a chance to see a 1st rate MMA promotion shine.

Over all I would rate this show a D+ borderline C- . There were fights stopped to early by the ref. Camera angles were poor, the announcers were so/so, the dancers and the rap music video shoot(fighter entrances) were horrible! Maybe Dana White isn't as dumb as all the Internet pros said he was when putting MMA/UFC on network TV?!?! EliteXC+Kimbo+CBS=2nd rate MMA promotion in my opinion.
