"I Can Deal With Any of Those Guys in The UFC" - Carlos Condit

In a interview with the OC Register New Mexico's own Carlos Condit gave his thoughts on possibly fighting in the UFC and how he fits in the welterweight division...

“But I feel, me being the champion, I can deal with any one of those guys in the UFC and beat quite a few of them and give any of them a run for their money.”
“I want to fight anyone who is above me. I don’t put too much thought into who I’m going to fight next or anything like that. I focus on improving myself and being the best that I can be. I know that if I reach my potential, then I can beat those guys, I can beat guys like GSP, I can beat guys like (Jon) Fitch. I can fight any of these guys. When I reach my prime, it’s going to be a scary, scary thing for everybody in the welterweight division.”

I personally think Condit is right on the money with his commit and he will be a force in the UFC welterweight division if he makes the jump from the WEC to the UFC.

Rosales trained fighter Rosalinda Olivas falls short but wins over fans and promoters in 1st MMA fight in Idaho Falls...

Rosales trained fighter Rosalinda Olivas(0-1) came up short in her debut, but was very impressive in here 1st MMA fight! So much so the promotion named her fight "FIGHT OF THE NIGHT" and has asked her back to Idaho Falls to do it all over again with Jessica Hakserson(3-1) . The fight was 3 rounds of hard fought action with the crowd on there feet cheering the two young ladies as they embraced in the middle of the cage at the end of the fight. The promoters of the show felt the decision was a little "hometown" so they asked Rosalinda to come back and fight a rematch as the main event on one of there upcoming shows!

September EliteXC event to air on Showtime

"After this weekend's "EliteXC: Unfinished Business" event at the Stockton Arena in Stockton, Calif., ProElite Inc. officials will begin preparations for its next major event, which will take place in September. ProElite, Inc. Executive Chairman Doug DeLuca today revealed the September event during a media conference call and said a formal announcement will be made this weekend. No location or venue has been finalized for the event, which will air on Showtime, possibly on Sept. 20. "You're going to see another CBS show down the road," said DeLuca, clarifying that the September show wouldn't be part of the "Saturday Night Fights" series on CBS. Earlier this year, EliteXC and CBS reached an agreement to air four annual EliteXC events in Saturday prime time. However, the non-CBS events (including an Aug. 15 ShoXC event in California) will continue to air on Showtime, which is owned by CBS' parent company. No fighters have been announced for the September event, though a few bookings could be revealed during Saturday's "Unfinished Business" event, which features three title fights, including a main event of EliteXC middleweight championship Robbie Lawler vs. Scott Smith. "

MMA Weekly is reporting that a source close to the fight has said the fight between Diego Sanchez and Thiago Alves will take place at UFC 90 in Chicago at the Allstate Arena. This fight was 1st rumored to be taking place at UFC89 in England but never materialized. The UFC Prez Dana White recently announced the event to the Chicago Sun Times but did not announce any fights on the card. Garcia has agreed to face former UFC Lightweight Champion and WEC title contender Jens "lil evil" Pulvar. Wow! I'm going on the record right now and saying I think this fight will be a 3 round war with Garcia pulling out the win! Garcia last fought in New Mexico with the WEC against Hiroyuki Takaya, he won that fight by TKO. I believe this will be Leonard's step to getting that title shot he deserves!

Carlos Condit and Donald Sanchez winding down there training camps...

Staying at the top is no easy task. Neither is getting to the top. WEC Welterweight World Champion Carlos Condit and up and coming fighter on a tear Donald Sanchez were pushing the limits with sprints, stairs and pads in a rain storm at 10,678' above sea level. Condit knows the dedication that it takes to remain the "man to beat" at 170lbs in the WEC. Sanchez was going stride for stride with the champ and is facing the biggest fight of his career next weekend in Canada. Sanchez will take on Jason Maxwell 15-8 who has a huge win over Jens Pulver and has faced very tough competition. Sanchez explained this as being a pivotal point in his career. A crossroads if you will. Condit will take on the tough Japanese fighter Hiromitsu Miura Aug 3rd who is coming off a devastating stoppage of Blas Avena. Miura has only recently made the drop from the middleweight limit of 185lbs to the welterweight division at 170. Maxwell and Miura will have their hands full in the next two weeks. Condit and Sanchez are winding down their respective training camps and are ready to go.

Diego Sanchez vs. Thiago Alves not happening at UFC 89...

A planned welterweight bout between Thiago Alves and Diego Sanchez is no longer expected to take place at UFC 89 on Oct. 18 in Birmingham, England, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer.
The Sanchez vs. Alves match has never been officially announced by the UFC but had been reported as being set by several major MMA media outlets. No reason for the change has been given.
According to Meltzer, the recently announced light heavyweight bout at UFC 89 between Lyoto Machida and Thiago Silva was chosen as the replacement for the proposed Alves vs. Sanchez matchup.
It is also unknown whether the matchup has been canceled entirely, or if there are plans to move the bout to another card, such as UFC 90 in Chicago on Oct. 25.

Potential Fight of the Year - Torres/Page WEC Title!

Five Ounces of Pain is reporting and quoting WEC Bantamweight Champion Miguel Torres on who his next fight will be against and when we will see him back in the cage!

"There are a couple of guys being looked at - Damacio Page of Greg Jackson’s team, the guy who just beat Chase Beebe - Will Ribiero, Manny Tapia - who I was supposed to fight before he hurt his knee, and there’s one other guy but his name is escaping me right now,” said Torres.

Miguel on when he plans on returning to the cage...

"They wanted me to fight again in September,” said Torres, “But I am opening a new gym, just got a new house, and I am teaching some seminars so I told them December would be better for me. I’m sure December will be when I fight again.”
